Welcome to the Eugene Child Development Center! We are happy to be launching our 2019 School-Age Summer Camp (1st through 5th grades), a new program at the ECDC in our second year at our lovely new Delta Pond location.
Beginning Monday, June 17, the ECDC Summer Camp will offer specific Theme weeks involving a wide range of fun, educational topics your child is sure to enjoy. Rich in curriculum designed to enlighten and entertain, ECDC Summer Camp will also include plenty of physical activity, such as nature hikes in our own backyard at Delta Pond, special guest speakers and several community field trips. And as always a fresh nutritious breakfast (for pre-camp care), lunch and healthy afternoon snack will be provided.
For our first week we tap into our creative side, each day exploring a different style of painting as we apply an assortment of techniques and media. By week’s end, each child will have a book of his/her own art work. Parents are invited to the ECDC Art Show the following Monday, June 24, which will showcase some of the week’s wondrous creations. Later that day, teachers and budding artists will hop on the city bus and head for The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on The University of Oregon Campus, after which we will enjoy lunch on the college campus lawn. FIELD TRIP: THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
This week we become bug collectors, scouring the landscape on our walks along the pond, looking for interesting insects and bugs to study back in the classroom. Caterpillars, butterflies, worms, spiders and ladybugs, Oh my!
